Peer Review Process

Every manuscript submitted to the editorial office of Tafakkur: Journal of Islamic Thought and Civilization undergoes an initial screening conducted by the Editorial Board. This preliminary evaluation aims to assess the manuscript’s alignment with the journal’s aims and scope, its originality, academic relevance, and compliance with the submission guidelines. Manuscripts that do not meet these criteria may be rejected at this stage without proceeding to peer review.

Manuscripts that successfully pass the initial screening are subsequently assigned to qualified reviewers and enter the double-blind peer review process, in which both the identities of the authors and the reviewers are concealed to ensure an objective, fair, and unbiased evaluation.

Upon completion of the review process, the manuscript, along with the reviewers’ comments, critiques, and recommendations, is returned to the author(s) for revision. Authors are expected to address all comments carefully and resubmit the revised manuscript within the specified timeframe. The overall review and revision process generally requires a maximum period of one month (four weeks), although this may vary depending on the complexity of the manuscript and the extent of revisions required.

During the peer review process, each manuscript is evaluated comprehensively based on both substantive and technical criteria:

• Methodological soundness (for empirical studies)

• Relevance to contemporary issues in Islamic studies, humanities, communication, or education

2. Technical Evaluation

• Organization and logical structure of the manuscript
• Clarity and coherence of argumentation
• Language quality and academic writing standards
• Accuracy and consistency of citations and references
• Compliance with the journal’s formatting and submission guidelines
