Author Guidelines

Manuscripts submitted to Tafakkur: Journal of Islamic Thought and Civilization must be original works that have not been previously published in any form or medium and are not simultaneously under consideration by another journal or publication.

Authors must submit their manuscripts through the Tafakkur online journal system. The submission process requires uploading the manuscript, a signed statement confirming the work has not been previously published, the author’s curriculum vitae, an e-mail address, and an institutional address for correspondence. The system provides step-by-step guidance, and authors should ensure that all required documents are properly attached. Incomplete submissions may delay the review process.

Authors bear full responsibility for the entire content of the manuscript submitted to the editorial office of Tafakkur: Journal of Islamic Thought and Civilization.

Submitted manuscripts must align with the journal’s focus and scope, particularly in the fields of Islamic thought, civilization studies, religious discourse, socio-cultural transformation in Muslim societies, and interdisciplinary perspectives on Islam. Manuscripts derived from empirical research, conceptual analysis, or theoretical discussions are prioritized. Manuscripts should be between 16 and 25 pages in length, typed on A4-sized paper with 1.5 line spacing, using Times New Roman, 12-point font.

All manuscripts submitted to Tafakkur: Journal of Islamic Thought and Civilization are subject to anonymous peer review by reviewers appointed by the Editorial Board based on the manuscript’s topic and the reviewers’ field of expertise. Decisions regarding the acceptance or rejection of manuscripts will be communicated by the Editorial Board via electronic mail.

The Editorial Board reserves the right to edit manuscripts for language, style, and format without altering the substance or principal ideas of the author.

Manuscripts received by the Editorial Board but deemed unsuitable for publication will not be returned to the author(s).

Authors whose manuscripts are accepted and published are entitled to receive one copy of the journal issue in which their article appears.

The name of the author should be written without academic titles, using Times New Roman, 12-point font, in boldface, and placed directly below the article title, accompanied by the author’s e-mail address. If the manuscript has more than two authors, all names should be listed in order of contribution. Throughout the editorial and review process, correspondence will be conducted only with the first author.

The title of the article should be centered and typed in Times New Roman, 14-point font, using appropriate capitalization. The introduction should be presented without a section heading. Any text intended for emphasis during editing should be written in bold and italic format.

The abstract should be written using the same typeface as the main text, in 11-point font.

Articles should be written in American English in essay format, typed in Times New Roman, 12-point font on A4-sized paper with 1.5 line spacing, and must be 16 to 25 pages in length.

Manuscripts must be submitted via the Tafakkur online journal system. Additional instructions are available on the journal’s website or can be requested from the editorial office.

Format:

  • Authors: Surname first, followed by initials. Use commas between authors and an ampersand (&) before the last author.

  • Year: In parentheses after authors.

  • Title: Sentence case, ending with a period.

  • Source Title: Italicized (journal/book), with capitalization on main words.

  • Volume (Issue): Volume italicized, issue in parentheses.

  • Pages: Inclusive page range.

  • DOI/URL: Included when available.
